Victor Gelb, Inc. was incorporated in 1983, in Ohio, after years of previous operation by the Ekus Family. As early as 1921, the Ekus family recognized the need to recycle materials being generated from the rubber and tire industry in Akron, Ohio, then the rubber capital of the world. Such recycling took various forms, one of which was the processing of treated tire cord fabric and other textiles into fibers used as reinforcement in a variety of rubber compounds and material composites.
