Major Product Lines: Precision cut treated synthetic and cotton based fibers as well as conversion of customer proprietary materials
The company recycles treated tire cord fabric, as well as cotton denim materials, into fibers which meet market needs in a cost effective manner. The tire cord is treated with a latex dip that enhances adhesion properties to natural and synthetic rubber compounds. When cut into precision fibers ranging from 3 mm to 9 mm, the material breaks down into individual strands when processed in a banbury mixer, then incorporates into the rubber to become a single entity.
Cotton materials are even a more cost effective method of accomplishing reinforcement, but with somewhat different properties than tire cord, which does not allow it to be an alternative in all cases. Cotton denim fibers provide similar strengthening characteristics but through the natural structure of the cotton as opposed to a bonding dip.
By offering cotton, nylon, and polyester fibers, Victor Gelb, Inc. offers a range of material which meets the specialized requirements of V-belts, solid tires, friction pads and brake shoes, among many others.
